One bag, every day.
The leather tote, the white sneaker and the silk scarf: three things that make every outfit easier.
Most women own too many bags and use one. That is not a failure. It is information: you want one bag that does everything, and does it beautifully.
The bag
Look for plain leather that will soften and darken with use, a shape that stands up on its own and room for a laptop, a book, a water bottle and a sweater. Skip the hardware and the logos; they date faster than the leather does.
The shoe
A clean white leather sneaker has quietly replaced the loafer as the shoe that goes with everything: wide trousers, a midi skirt, jeans on Saturday. Keep it white and it looks deliberate rather than casual.
The scarf
A square of silk is the cheapest way to make a familiar outfit feel new. Knot it at the neck, tie it to the bag handle, wear it in your hair on a windy day. Fold it into the tote and you are ready for the evening.
